Born in England, I graduated in 1969 from the Oxford School of Architecture and briefly practised in London before coming to live in Perth.

My passion for photography began with my grandfather, Frank Yerbury who bought me my first camera.

Frank had been Secretary of the Architectural Association for 27 years and led many AA student European tours to see much of the great architecture of the 1920/30’s. His photographs of these buildings were widely published in a series of books and many journal articles.

Following his example the first of my many photographic adventures was to Scandinavia in 1966 to see the work of Arne Jacobsen, Gunnar Asplund  and Alvar Aalto.

In Perth for many years I was both a registered Architect and a registered Builder before focussing on the design and manufacture of furniture but always relentlessly photographing all that I had drawn and made.

As Analogue gave way to Digital I embraced CAD and NC manufacturing pathways but now I live in the world of Digital photography and the dark arts of post-processing.

I had never intended to become a professional photographer but following FotoFreo 2012 where I had exhibited photos of the Fremantle Power Station  an old friend commissioned me to photograph for his Architectural practice. This led to more commissions from both his and other practices and to an ongoing learning curve as I continue to work with architects, designers and makers who’s work I enjoy and respect.

Here is some of my work from the past 2 years. Commissioned images bear the name of the project and it’s authors. Other works on page, ETCETERA, do not.

In 2022 I once more travelled in my Grandfather’s footsteps to the Grundtvig’s Church in Copenhagen which he had photographed 100 years before and to Hilversum Town Hall designed by W.M.Dudok. I have included here my travel photographs of these two buildings and of the Oodi Library in Helsinki.
